Shaun White Hurt During Practice Run: Still takes 3rd place

Earlier today during the Dew Tour Vert Finals, Shaun White suffered a concussion and was taken to an area hospital.
During a practice run before his second run, White slipped comming down the transion and hit his head on the flat. As he laid on the flat bottom medical personnel rushed over to assist him.
As seconds turned to minutes the arena grew quiet and Shaun twisted and turned in pain. Concerned competitors PLG and Bucky Lasek jumped off the deck and came to his side. After five minutes White was able to stand. He staggered off the ramp to the cheers of the fans.

Before the injury, White scored a 91.00 in his first run which put him in 3rd place at the time.
White’s single run earned him 3rd place. His trophy was placed on the podium in his absence. Hours later he was still at the hospital. At the scheduled Dew Cup Awards White was honnored as Sk8 Vert Cup Champ. His sk8board was carried out and placed on chair. The Dew Cup was placed on top.
Interstate would like to wish Shaun a quick recovery.
UPDATE: (From LA Times) Shaun White skated his first of three scheduled runs on the Amway Arena vert ramp Sunday to the tune of Led Zeppelin’s “Communication Breakdown.” He would leave the packed venue dazed and confused but, thankfully, not seriously injured. White, 21, fell after a spin trick while practicing for his second run, slammed his helmet-covered head into the flat bottom of the U-shaped ramp and had to be helped off by medical personnel.

Bucky Lasek: Proud Dad Ready to Compete

Shawn White may be walking away with the Dew Cup this weekend, but Bucky Lasek will still be feeling like a champ after the recent birth of his daughter Tenzin.
Congratulations to Jenn and Bucky Lasek on their new baby, born October 5th, little Tenzin weighed in at six pounds, nine ounces. She is the couple’s third child (all girls). Mom and baby are doing well.

Shaun White To Win AST Dew Tour Cup

This week in Orlando, Shaun White will finish as the AST Dew Tour Cup Champion.
He currently leads with 363 points. Pierre-Luc Gagnon, the 1st place finisher in Salt Lake City is in 2nd with 262. Even if PLG drops another 1st place performance, he won’t have enough points to overtake White. The reigning, two time Dew Tour Cup holder, Bucky Lasek will be unseated.
At the last Dew Tour stop I asked Bucky if the torch was being passed to Shaun.
Bucky responded, “No, not quite yet. I have been injured and now there are no excuses. Shaun is on top of his game now and I intend to be back.”
With the Dew Cup in the bag, we expect the Tomato to be even more relaxed, banging out higher airs while taking a his victory laps. It should be 17 walls of pleasure and 45 seconds of joy!

Extra practice and sick combos may have been the difference at the latest AST Dew Tour stop. Practice for Skateboard Vert had officially ended but Gagnon and second place finisher Bucky Lasek sessioned for another hour. Interstate was there to capture PLG dropping in to a kick-flip mute fakie as a set up for a fakie 720. No slacker himself, Bucky muscled four consecutive fakie 540s.
